This blog is as a collection of our own views about the state of the global economy, the major trends in asset and risk management, and the recent financial challenges that have hurled the world economy into a much debated turmoil. It is also a blog on which we will host views by prominent thinkers, as well as positions and insights that we believe make a meaningful contribution towards shedding some light on global market issues and their implications.

A few words about George
George is a co-founder, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer at North Asset Management. George manages North’s flagship fund the MaxQ Fund, an uncorrelated alpha macro fund, which in 2009 was placed at No. 29 in the world’s top 100 best performing hedge funds as determined by Barrons. Formerly George was Managing Director at Morgan Stanley within the Fixed Income Department. Prior to working at Morgan Stanley, he worked at Vereinsbank AG and Christiania Bank. George studied Political Science and International Relations at University of Athens, Law Department.

A few words about Nick
Nick is a co-founder, Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer at North Asset Management.  Nick is a former Executive Director at Morgan Stanley within the Finance Department where he was in charge of London’s counterparty credit risk team that focused on managing the risk inherent in the broad array of products traded at Morgan Stanley, including fixed income, foreign exchange, equities, and commodities. Prior to working at Morgan Stanley, Nick worked at Swiss Banking Corporation and ABN AMRO in a similar function. Nick has an A.B. in Government with Economics from Harvard University.
